Pasal 55 s/d 58 Tata Tartib DPRD menyatakan bahwa Badan Kehormatan bersifat tetap dan dibentuk pada awal masa jabatan keanggotaan DPRD. Tugas BK utamanya adalah mengamati, mengevaluasi disiplin, etika dan moral Anggota DPRD dalam rangka menjaga martabat dan kehormatan sesuai dengan kode etik DPRD. Selanjutnya, meneliti, melakukan penyelidikan, verifikasi dan klarifikasi atas pengaduan dan dugaan pelanggaran yang dilakukan Anggota DPRD serta menyampaikan kesimpulan serta hasilnya sebagai rekomendasi untuk ditindaklanjuti oleh DPRD. BK berwenang untuk memanggil anggota yang bersangkutan untuk memberikan penjelasan dan pembelaan terhadap dugaan pelanggaran yang dilakukannya, sekaligus meminta keterangan pelapor, saksi dan/atau pihak terkait lainnya termasuk untuk meminta dokumen atau bukti lainnya. Dalam Tata Tertib diatur mekanisme pengaduan/pelaporan pelanggaran, mekanisme penelitian dan pemeriksaan, serta prosedur penjatuhan sanksi.
